This low-cost and accessible introductory program is designed for anyone interested in learning more about the impact of trauma and how the community uses Trauma-Informed practices in gym settings. This program is appropriate for all professions.Â
This course offers a foundational overview of Trauma-Informed Weightlifting (TIWL), a practice that supports healing through strength training. TIWL is rooted in trauma science, exercise science, and movement-based healing.
Participants will learn why TIWL exists, how it benefits trauma-impacted individuals, and what current research says about its impact. The course also introduces TIWL principles and explores real-world case studies showing how this approach is used in fitness, mental health, and in trauma recovery.
This course is designed for fitness professionals, mental health providers, and movement educators interested in creating safer, more supportive spaces for people with trauma histories.
