ABOUT THE PROGRAM

December 9th & 11th, 2025

This specialty training introduces mental health providers to Trauma Informed Weight Lifting (TIWL) as a clinical and community-based intervention. Participants will explore the intersections of embodiment, trauma recovery, and strength training, learning how weight lifting can be integrated into healing processes. The training will emphasize principles of trauma-informed care, the science of stress and resilience, and practical applications for supporting clients in gym-based, community, and clinical contexts.

Through a combination of didactic teaching, case studies, interactive discussion, and experiential reflection, providers will gain tools to better understand the therapeutic potential of weight lifting and how to collaborate with clients and coaches to foster safety, empowerment and transformative healing practices.

A NOTE ABOUT LEARNING VERSUS HEALING

This program is for professional development and learning. We recognize that although many of us may have experiences of trauma, the time we spend together will not be an intervention for our own individual healing. Talking and learning about trauma, even in the context of a training, can be triggering.

Join us for two days of learning, practice, and connection.

Step into a new way of supporting clients — one that honors the body, builds safety, and transforms strength into a healing practice.
