CO-DIRECTOR, TRAUMA INFORMED WEIGHT LIFTING

Job Description

Trauma Informed Weight Lifting (TIWL) is a program of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at JRI. TIWL is an embodied practice and intervention that is informed by the latest in neuroscience, physiology and trauma research. We are working to make weight lifting and fitness spaces & professionals trauma-informed, inclusive, and responsive to all bodies, experiences and identities. We do this through our training program, conducting innovative research and developing weight lifting programs to support healing and resilience-building. The Co-Director will oversee all components of TIWL in partnership and collaboration with the other Co-Director. This is a 20-hour a week remote position.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Design, refine, innovate and expand on the program development of Trauma Informed Weight Lifting including training curriculum and other community-based programs

  • Co-lead TIWL trainings and collaborate on the strategic development of our certification and train-the-trainer programs

  • Engage in community building, establish and maintain community partnerships

  • Engage in and contribute to TIWL research projects*

  • Collaborate with Co-Director and marketing personnel to support marketing of TIWL courses and consultation opportunities including increasing TIWL presence on media platforms and generating contentĀ 

  • Collaborate with CFTE in the pursuit of grants, gifts, and collaborative research opportunities

  • Collaborate with CFTE to find opportunities to implement the full gamut of CFTE programs

  • Participate in ongoing self-study and training around systemic trauma, systemic privilege and systemic oppression.

Requirements

  • Certificate in personal training or coaching required (e.g. NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, USAW, etc.)

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a personal trainer or coach

  • Demonstrated (and ongoing) commitment to trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and anti-racist practices

  • Experience facilitating and leading workshops/trainings/courses (preferred)

  • Training or education in trauma (preferred)

Compensation:Ā 

  • $30-$36 per hour for 20 hours per week

  • The Co-Director also receives 41% of revenue from trainings conducted and additional compensation is provided based on research grants* and additional external projects and trainings.Ā 


* TIWL Research: If an outside entity is the grantee and the PI and they write the Co-Director in as a co-investigator, there may be scenarios where a research grant requires more than the allotted 20hours of Director hours. Additional hours will be written into and funded by the respective grant.
